Lanna Muay Thai was founded by Andy Thomson in ___, becoming the first foreigner-founded gym in Thailand. This popularized Chiang Mai as a highly sought-after training destination for Muay Thai students around the world. He sponsored training for local Thai children.
In ___ Thomson founded the current facility & location of our gym. In addition, his concern for preserving Muay Thai as an artform led him to creating another facility in the mountainous and rural region of Chiang Mai, where children train and live in solace. A Canadian who spent his life devoted to his passion of Muay Thai, he passed away in 2018.
